This course is for any employer to ensure they remain compliant with their Fire Safety requirements. Once your fire risk assessment has been done, employers must trained sufficient numbers of staff to act as fire marshals / wardens. The duties of the fire marshal / warden are not purely in the event of an evacuation, but also on a day to day basis. 

Fire prevention is very much now the focus, and educating employees to be vigilant as well as follow correct procedures is key to minimising the risk of fire, as well as maximising the safety of everyone on site.

When selecting your employees to complete the training, employers should make a suitable assessment on the suitability of the staff being trained. Staff who work on multi occupied sites, need to be out of the office for meeting on a regular basis, are part time or have to travel a lot for business would not be suitable candidates for the role of a fire marshal / warden. As well as being present on site with the exception of illness and annual leave, employers should ensure that all shifts are covered with fire marshals / wardens and they a spread evenly across the whole facility not just in on location.

This course works best when provided on site rather than in a class environment as we can then make parts of the course specific to your business. Once the training has been completed, we conduct a tour of the facility with staff as a practical exercise to get them looking for anything that could pose a fire safety risk. This tour proves beneficial as it demonstrates to employees what they should be doing on a day to day basis not just when reacting to an evacuation. The tour could produce something that can be rectified there and then such as moving something that could be impeding an exit or it could be something that involves a cost and needs to be passed to management such as new signage throughout because the current signage is worn.
